Hey there kiddos –
Today’s revision activity:
PROMPT:
“Compare how the two texts explore the divide between leaders and the common people”
RACE AROUND THE TOPIC – a Comparative Texts variation on Snakes and Ladders
Rules:
- Small teams of students are to find the best way(s) to explore the prompt & relate it back to examples and/or quotes from either Ransom or The Queen
- Responses MUST include:
- an example/quote (double points if both) from one of the texts
- how it could be used
- how it ties back into the prompt
- what comparison can be made with the other text
- this will add up to a possible 5 points/moves on the game board
- there will also be comprehension questions to answer if you land on a ladder for further advancement, or to maintain your position and do not descend if you land on a snake
- the team that is furthest ahead at the end of the allotted time for the game shall be deemed THE GRAND CHAMPIONS OF COMPARATIVE TEXTS SNAKES AND LADDERS (Race Around The Topic Edition) IN PERPETUITY (or at least until the end of the lesson)
- Each response should segue into the previous response, AND SHOULD respond to the perspective of the other text presented by previous groups
- Points/moves will be deducted for any examples or quotes that do not explore the prompt in a logical & thorough manner
- Points/moves can, & most likely will, be deducted for any misspelling of key terms; names of characters/writers/producers; places that are integral to the study of the texts
- Bonus points may, at the discretion of your most esteemed adjudicator, be granted for any accurate inclusion of filmic/literary devices that further the specific exploration that is being put forward by any group
- A time limit of 5 minutes will be placed on each turn of each team
- Penalty points/moves will be applied to any culprits if there is any cheating or collusion on behalf of any team (ie – using any previous work on the prompt!!! – you know what I am talking about Mr Giggles)
