Using the shared doc COMPARATIVE TEXTS – DECONSTRUCTION OF PROMPT in our Google Classroom, we will be looking to:

• Deconstruct the prompt
• Identify similarities & differences (supports/challenges)
• The use of the scaffold to structure up a response
• Then complete a group planning tasks to create detailed plans for:

• • Introduction
  • Body paragraph #1
  • Body paragraph #2
  • Conclusion

Hey there kiddos –

BIG CHANGES are coming for you!

The Year 12 English team has met and we were thinking of how we wanted to make this last SAC as achievable as possible for all of you – we want all of you to be as successful as you can be! With this in mind please note the following changes to the assessment: 

• SAC will take place in one of your Week 9 classes (your teacher will let you know of the exact details) for 100 mins. – for our class, that will be FRIDAY 10th SEPTEMBER, sessions 1 & 2
• Essay will require you to write 900 words as opposed to 1200 
• Essay will require you to only write an introduction, 2 body paragraphs (1 that SUPPORTS the prompt and 1 that CHALLENGES the prompt) and a conclusion 
• You will be supplied with 3 prompts as opposed to 2 so you have more of a chance to show your knowledge of the text with a prompt that suits you (still only CHOOSE 1).
• Some scaffolds and material will be supplied  
• We will require you to sign an authentication record and it goes without saying that we will be checking for plagiarism and each class will be receiving separate prompts – the same penalties for plagiarising still apply

Here is a SAC practice prompt for us to look at and develop a detailed plan (and possible drafting out a response):

“I appeal to you as a father.” (Ransom)

“Always physical, never afraid to show her feelings.” (The Queen)

Compare the difficulty characters in both texts have with reconciling family, leadership and power.

1. Log into our class Google Classroom by 8.55am
2. Download & then open the  the SAC document in Google Docs – you can work on the SAC in this format
3. Share your Google Doc with me (william.wringe@education.vic.gov.au) prior to starting the SAC at 9.00am
4. I will open your Google Doc allowing me to follow your progress in real time
